1917:Strike! is a tribute to the memory of the late Brian Dunnett - folkie, unionist, railway worker and advocate for the preservation of railway heritage. 1917: Strike! will tell the story of one of Australia's biggest industrial disputes, the 1917 Great Strike, which started at Eveleigh Railway Workshops and Randwick Tram Depot and spread across the country leaving wounds that were felt for decades afterwards. With a dramatic narration by award-winning playwright, PP Cranney, songs and music collected by Brian and co-curator Mark Gregory and performed by musical director Christina Mimmocchi, with Chloe and Jason Roweth and Catherine Golden, 1917: STRIKE! will be a powerful centenary celebration of a significant event in labour history, and a tribute to the memory Brain Dunnett who did so much to fight for the industrial rights and cultural heritage of his fellow workers.
